PALLURUTHY

Cottolengo Sisters in Palluruthy

The Cottolengo family at Palluruthy in Kerala, has begun the presence of sisters in collaboration with the Cottolengo brothers in the year 2000. Two of our sisters started to come from Fort Cochin community every day to the rehabilitation centre for mentally challenged men in our premise, to assist them in the occupational therapy. In the year 2001 December 7th, the building was blessed; officially it was established on 8th December, on the very next day of its blessing with four sisters. The sisters in the community are engaged in the service with the inmates in their occupational therapy, works as a spiritual guide in the hospital of Cochin Diocese and render their service in the primary school under the same diocese. They participate actively in the pastoral works of the parish like catechism, Basic Christian Community and house visiting. In collaboration with brothers, volunteers and inmates, sisters are living here with real comment, enthusiasm and the spirit of our Father Founder Cottolengo.
