Cottolengo Convent in Bangalore, Karnataka is located in Whitefield outer circle area. The community has been started in the year 1991, but it was officially blessed on January 17th 1993.
What do we do?
School: A special school started in the year 1994 for the children from the local communities with various forms of disabilities. To develop basic living skill for personal development and provide a platform to students for improving their mental capabilities, motor skills, technical abilities, job related skills, and social skills.
Physiotherapy unit: Our motto is to help people to restore, maintain and maximize their physical strength, function, motion, and overall well-being by addressing the underlying physical issues, for this purpose a physiotherapy centre has been initiated in the year 2003. More importance is given to our students for the rehabilitation and the poor of the society. We aspire to improve locomotive skills for people who lost their natural mobility due to some accident or stroke.
Boarding Facility: Our sisters are doing dedicated services for the children round the clock; as each one of them has specific needs the sisters are always there for their service. Those children who are capable are also included in gardening, vegetable chopping, and cleaning as a routine scheduled activity to teach them to be independent.
Pastoral service: Apart from the services mentioned above, the sisters are co-operating with the parish activity by participating in education of Catechism, BCC, Flower arrangement on all Saturdays and Sundays and for the Holy Eucharistic celebration, communion distribution and cleaning up the Altar cloth, ironing and folding etc.
35th Jubilee celebration of Sr Grace Pollayil
On 28th October 2023, we the sisters of Whitefield community celebrated 35th anniversary of the religious profession of Sr Grace Pollayil. The celebration began with the Eucharistic Banquet presided by Rev Fr Stanly SSC, the new ordained Cottolengo priest of the Whitefield parish. The sisters along with our pearls have actively participated in the Eucharistic Celebration Which has given a vibrant tone to feel as one family.
